Shawn Freitas
Founder & CEO
Shawn is the Founder of Habitat Energy, developing “energy habitats” that transform local manures into precision liquid fertilizers and clean energy to help boost farm efficiency and protect water resources. With 15+ years in clean energy and alternative fuels, he has led significant projects from oilfields to biorefineries to water treatment. He was a co-founder and executive at CleanBay Renewables and, most recently, a Senior Project Manager at the U.S. Department of Energy, where he managed significant investments targeting energy efficiency projects for the heavy industry. Shawn brings a proven record of scaling innovations that deliver both environmental and financial returns. He holds a PhD in Wood Science from Oregon State University and two MS degrees in project management and environmental engineering from the University of Alaska.

Bryan A. Train
Founder and Executive Chairman
Bryan is the Executive Chairman of Habitat Energy and has extensive international experience within project finance and capital markets. He brings a proven track record of scaling ventures and driving returns across clean energy, real estate, and global markets. He was an executive at CleanBay Renewables, an investor and international lead at Globomass, and a co-founder of a 3,500-unit housing venture in Brazil. With prior executive experiences at Coloplast and GMAC, and early career finance at DuPont, he offers deep operational and investment expertise. Bryan holds a BA (Hons) in International Business and German from the European Business School in London and an MSc in Logistics, Trade and Finance from City University’s Bayes Business School, London.


Heather Pedersen
Business Operations Manager
Heather brings over 20 years of administrative and project management experience across agriculture, wastewater management, education, legal, and human resources. Her background includes six years in the Legal Department at Clean Water Services (CWS), where she supported regulatory compliance, contracts, and organizational operations. She has served as a Zonta local-chapter president and currently sits on three nonprofit boards, contributing leadership to community development and natural-resource initiatives. Heather has also directed youth education for many years, both as a church Youth Director and as a mentor in broader community programs. Outside of work, she enjoys organic gardening, camping, and painting—balancing professional expertise with a passion for creativity, service, and meaningful impact.
